I HAVE INHERIET ANTIQUE FURNITURE FROM MY GRANDPARENTS.

My maternal grandparents were married in December 1922. In this photo they appear with 6 of the 7 children (grandma was pregnant with the seventh son). My mother is the older girl and is standing next to my grandfather.

By whim of fate I inherited the furniture from my grandparents' house. The furniture of the photo is called "Flirt or Canapé" which conceptually means: Species of wooden sofa, with back and arms, with place for one, two or three people. In it I just did the cleaning, waxing and restored the seat.

This is the Antique Hat Rack that stood at the entrance of my grandparents' living room. In it I did the cleaning, changed the mirror (I kept the original) and finished with a good waxing. I also made a brass base that serves to support umbrellas, walking sticks as well as working as a water collector.

This is the Antique Buffet Cabinet in my grandparents' dining room. Here I decided not to make any intervention due to the beautiful work of marquetry and the beautiful marble stone that the furniture has. I just did the cleaning and a good waxing. Marquetry is an inlaid work made from small pieces of variously colored wood or other materials, used chiefly for the decoration of furniture.

This is the Old Hutch in my grandparents' dining room. It has the beveled glasses, a beautiful stone in black cracked marble and a fantastic work in marquetry. Here, in the same way, I did not do any intervention, just the cleaning and a good waxing.

Finally there was a lovely Wall Clock in my grandparents' dining room. Incredible, but it works flawlessly up to the present day filling the environment with its soothing noises.

Meus avós maternos casaram-se em dezembro de 1922. Nesta foto eles aparecem com 6 dos 7 filhos (vovó estava grávida do sétimo filho). Minha mãe é a menina maior e está em pé ao lado do meu avô.

Por capricho do destino eu herdei os móveis da casa de meus avós. O móvel da foto é chamado “Namoradeira ou Canapé” que conceitualmente significa: Espécie de sofá de madeira, com encosto e braços, com lugar para uma, duas ou três pessoas. Nele fiz apenas a limpeza, enceramento e restaurei o assento.

Este é o antigo Chapeleiro que ficava na entrada da sala de visitas de meus avós. Nele eu fiz a limpeza, troquei o espelho (guardei o original) e finalizei com um bom enceramento. Fiz também uma base em latão que serve para apoiar guarda-chuvas, bengalas além de funcionar como coletor de água

Este é o Antigo Buffet da sala de jantar de meus avós. Aqui eu resolvi por não fazer nenhuma intervenção devido ao lindo trabalho de marchetaria e à belíssima pedra em mármore que o móvel tem. Apenas fiz a limpeza e um bom enceramento. Marchetaria é um trabalho embutido feito de pequenos pedaços de madeira ou outros materiais de várias cores, usados principalmente para decoração de móveis

Esta é a Antiga Cristaleira da sala de jantar de meus avós. Ela tem os vidros bisotados, uma linda pedra em mármore preto rajado e um fantástico trabalho em marchetaria. Aqui também não fiz nenhuma intervenção, apenas a limpeza e um bom enceramento.

Finalmente, havia na sala de jantar de meus avós um lindo Relógio de Parede. Incrível, mas ele funciona perfeitamente até os dias de hoje preenchendo o ambiente com suas suaves badaladas.

RENOVATING MY BEACH HOUSE (V). REFORMANDO MINHA CASA DE PRAIA (V).

The old living room was small and shared space with the dining room and the garage. In our renovation, the architect opted for the felling of walls, changing the position of door and window and, for the creation of an integrated environment, the garage was eliminated.

Demolished the walls and repositioned the door and the window, the room was very wide. The initial idea was to use burnt cement on the floor, however, apart from an error in the creation of the burnt cement, we still felt that the room was very dark.

The solution was to remove all the burned cement, to make a new subfloor and the placement of a clear ceramic tile (porcelanato).

The photo shows the ceramic floor being placed. Observe the presence of the spacers for perfect alignment and leveling. The chosen ceramic (porcelain tile) has a light color (almost white) and the characteristic of being non-slip.

In previous posters I talked about the importance of skirting boards. To obtain a contrasting effect with the floor the best option was the choice of a wooden baseboard. Let's go to work!!! Now the next steps will be sanding and waxing.

The work is not already finished but the contrasting effect between the floor and the skirting board is excellent. Goal achieved.

A antiga sala era pequena e dividia espaço com a sala de jantar e a garagem. Em nossa reforma, o arquiteto optou pela derrubada de paredes, mudança de posição de porta e janela e, para a criação de ambiente integrado, a garagem foi eliminada.

Demolidas as paredes e reposicionadas a porta e a janela, a sala ficou bem ampla. A ideia inicial era usar cimento queimado no piso, todavia, além de erro na criação do cimento queimado ainda achamos que o ambiente ficava muito escuro.

A solução foi remover todo o cimento queimado, fazer um novo contrapiso e a colocação de um piso cerâmico (porcelanato) claro.

A foto mostra o piso cerâmico sendo colocado. Observe a presença dos espaçadores para um perfeito alinhamento e nivelamento. A cerâmica escolhida (porcelanato) tem cor clara (quase branco) e a característica de ser antiderrapante.

Em postagens anteriores falei sobre a importância dos rodapés. Para obter um efeito contrastante com o piso a melhor opção foi a escolha de um rodapé em madeira. Vamos ao trabalho!!!  Agora as próximas etapas serão lixar e encerar.
