RENOVATING MY BEACH HOUSE (V). REFORMANDO MINHA CASA DE PRAIA (V).

The old living room was small and shared space with the dining room and the garage. In our renovation, the architect opted for the felling of walls, changing the position of door and window and, for the creation of an integrated environment, the garage was eliminated.

Demolished the walls and repositioned the door and the window, the room was very wide. The initial idea was to use burnt cement on the floor, however, apart from an error in the creation of the burnt cement, we still felt that the room was very dark.

The solution was to remove all the burned cement, to make a new subfloor and the placement of a clear ceramic tile (porcelanato).

The photo shows the ceramic floor being placed. Observe the presence of the spacers for perfect alignment and leveling. The chosen ceramic (porcelain tile) has a light color (almost white) and the characteristic of being non-slip.

In previous posters I talked about the importance of skirting boards. To obtain a contrasting effect with the floor the best option was the choice of a wooden baseboard. Let's go to work!!! Now the next steps will be sanding and waxing.

The work is not already finished but the contrasting effect between the floor and the skirting board is excellent. Goal achieved.

A antiga sala era pequena e dividia espaço com a sala de jantar e a garagem. Em nossa reforma, o arquiteto optou pela derrubada de paredes, mudança de posição de porta e janela e, para a criação de ambiente integrado, a garagem foi eliminada.

Demolidas as paredes e reposicionadas a porta e a janela, a sala ficou bem ampla. A ideia inicial era usar cimento queimado no piso, todavia, além de erro na criação do cimento queimado ainda achamos que o ambiente ficava muito escuro.

A solução foi remover todo o cimento queimado, fazer um novo contrapiso e a colocação de um piso cerâmico (porcelanato) claro.

A foto mostra o piso cerâmico sendo colocado. Observe a presença dos espaçadores para um perfeito alinhamento e nivelamento. A cerâmica escolhida (porcelanato) tem cor clara (quase branco) e a característica de ser antiderrapante.

Em postagens anteriores falei sobre a importância dos rodapés. Para obter um efeito contrastante com o piso a melhor opção foi a escolha de um rodapé em madeira. Vamos ao trabalho!!!  Agora as próximas etapas serão lixar e encerar.

RENOVATING MY BEACH HOUSE (IV). REFORMANDO MINHA CASA DE PRAIA (IV).

In picture taken before the start of reform we can observe the existence of a door on the side of the house, next to the old garage and through which we have access to laundry facilities.

As we saw in the previous post, the reform of the laundry started with the opening of a window.

The reform started with the exchange of the old roof with a new one.

To get more light in the laundry room we alternate fiber cement tiles with translucent tiles. The result was excellent.

When we started changing the laundry floor we notice that the counterfloor was spoiled and presenting erosion.

This is the place where it was found erosion due to leakage in the pipe of rainwater.

Floor and subfloor have been completely removed, repairs were carried out and the floor finally ready to receive a new coating.

Here we can see the laundry with its new floor.

The wall surrounding the tank was also protected with ceramic coating.

This is the opposite area to the tank and vision for the access door to the laundry.

That's it !!!

Etapa 4: Em foto tirada antes do início da reforma, podemos observar a existência de uma porta lateral na casa, junto à antiga garagem e, através da qual, temos acesso à lavanderia.

Como vimos na postagem anterior, a reforma da lavanderia teve início com a abertura de uma janela.

Visão geral da antiga lavanderia.

A reforma da lavanderia foi iniciada com troca do antigo telhado por um novo.

Para obtermos maior luminosidade, intercalamos telhas de fibrocimento com telhas translúcidas. O resultado foi excelente.

Quando iniciamos a troca do piso da lavanderia, observamos que o contrapiso estava comprometido e apresentava erosão.

Local onde encontramos a erosão devido ao vazamento na tubulação de água pluvial. 

Piso e contrapiso foram completamente removidos, reparos foram realizados e o piso finalmente preparado para receber um novo revestimento.

Aqui vemos a lavanderia com seu novo piso.

A parede entorno ao tanque também foi protegida com o revestimento cerâmico.

Esta é a área oposta ao tanque e com visão para a porta de acesso à lavanderia.

Pois é minha gente !!!

A reforma está a todo vapor.

Step 3: The former garage on the side of the house.

The old garage besides weathered yet committed plasticity, insulation and ventilation of the property.

In this sense, the architectural project included the demolition and removal of the old garage.

The garage already demolished and leaving only the pillars that will be removed in sequence. In the background we can see the water and energy meters which will also be isolated.

On the other hand, the kitchen had inadequate sunlight and ventilation.

To overcome such drawbacks the project provides for the opening of a window  in the kitchen.

Like the kitchen the laundry room also needed more light and ventilation.

Etapa 3: A antiga garagem na lateral da casa.

A antiga garagem além de desgastada pelo tempo ainda comprometia a plasticidade, a insolação e a ventilação do imóvel.

Nesse sentido, o projeto arquitetônico previu a demolição e a remoção da velha garagem.

A garagem já demolida restando apenas os pilares que serão removidos na sequência. Ao fundo podemos visualizar a entrada de água e luz para a casa e que também serão isolados.

A cozinha tinha insolação e ventilação inadequadas.

Para contornar tais inconvenientes, o projeto previu a abertura de uma janela na cozinha.

Tal como a cozinha, a lavanderia também precisava de melhor insolação e ventilação.

Nesta visão externa podemos observar as aberturas para as janelas da cozinha e da lavanderia.
